Powell & Espat's office in Tampa represents people and families who have been injured or suffered a wrongful death from hundreds of different types of personal injury causes. It is impossible to list all of the different types of injury cases we have handled, and every day we accept new and novel cases that have merit. Unfortunately, we also must decline to take many personal injury cases because they may not have enough merit to justify bringing a suit.
On our web site, we have listed many of the most common types of personal injury cases we have handled, but there are always unique situations in which people are injured by the fault, neglect or malice of another.
So if you think you may have a personal injury claim, but you don't see specific information on our web site, we still suggest you contact us to discuss your specific situation to see if you have a case.
Some of the other more unique personal injury claims that we handled in the past include:
- Representing a customer of a nationwide pharmacy who suffered an invasion of privacy after employees of the drug store copied nude photographs of her and other customers and then these employees showed these private photographs at beer parties.
- We represent a patient of an OBGYN doctor who was sexually assaulted by the doctor. She called the police and she then gave the doctor a negative rating on a popular doctor rating web site. So the doctor attempted to have a court order an injunction to prevent her from exercising her First Amendment rights of Free Speech. The Court said no to the injunction, so she counter sued the OBGYN for assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The doctor later sued her for defamation.
- We have represented people who have been injured by pharmacies mis filling prescriptions. Pharmacy malpractice is more common that most people think.
- We accept cases involving negligent training of employees.. For example a bank customer is mistakenly identified as a potential bank robber by a teller at a bank. The employee then sets off the silent alarm and causes the customer to become injured and humiliated after the swat team begins an arrest of the banking customer, only to find out that the bank employee was wrong, the customer was not a bank robber and that if she had been properly trained, this whole mess would have been avoided.
